This adorable porcelain bud vase is intentionally set off-kilter to create an interesting dynamic on your shelf. I call these pieces "ephemeral pods" because they remind me of the small ephemeral plants that bloom in early spring on the rich forest floor. Their slight tilt gives them character and individuality like those found in nature.
This piece is designed by me (the artist) then slip-cast and hand cut to produce a one-of-a-kind piece. The original form was wheel-thrown and altered, then carefully hand-carved to leave the raised vein pattern on the petals. I create a multi-part mold from the original and hand cast each one with liquid porcelain clay slip. Once the piece hardens slightly, the scalloped rim is cut by me or a skilled studio assistant. Then the bottom is sanded flat, but off center to leave a fun, tilted flower bud.
Size: 3" tall x 3" wide x 3" deep
Food safe but primarily intended for decoration due to its tilted nature
Fired to over 2150 degrees Fahrenheit to leave a durable, glass-like porcelain
I gladly accept payment via PayPal, money order, or check. On personal checks, my policy is to wait until the check clears before shipping the item to you. Thanks for understanding.
I generally ship the same day I receive payment, and for most items I use Fed Ex Ground, but I will ship the fastest way possible for the amount of money you have paid. I often double box and and always thoroughly pack items I am shipping. Whenever possible, I try to reuse packing materials so please be understanding of multiple types of padding (i.e. bubble wrap, foam, news paper, shredded paper, etc.)
On international orders, I will likely use USPS for international shipping. I try very hard to accurately estimate the shipping costs. However, if I have overestimated significantly, I will refund the difference to you.
As mentioned above, customer satisfaction is very important to me. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, please let me know within one week of receiving the item and I will either refund your purchase, replace the item or remake it (this may take some time due to firing schedules).
ON GLAZE COLORS:
While I make every effort to portray the true color of my work through the photography process, every computer monitor has its own color nuances. The glazes themselves are complex surfaces often with many subtle variations. If the color of the piece is extremely important for you, please contact me for further descriptions. If you have access to a local hardware store with paint color samples such as Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore, we can very accurately compare colors though their free in-store samples.
I gladly accept custom orders with a 50% deposit required up front. However, variations in glazes are sometimes unpredictable, so like any handmade product no two are exactly alike.
I will sell wholesale on some items, so please contact me via e-mail if you are interested. I rarely work on consignment.
